Man dies after found with gunshot wound in tow truck

Toronto, Ontario — The Toronto Police homicide squad is currently investigating the shooting of a 23-year-old Toronto man in Etobicoke, Ont. on Thursday evening.

Emergency crews were called to a residential building new Panorama Crt. and Kipling Ave. for the sound of gunshots at 7:42 p.m. When paramedics arrived, the victim was found inside a tow truck with a gunshot wound.

The man was rushed to hospital, where he died. Police have identified him as Hashim Kinani.

It is unclear whether the shooting is linked to the ongoing tow truck turf war in the Greater Toronto Area, though Duty Insp. Paul Rinkoff told CP24 they would be looking into it.

No suspect information has been released, but police said there were reports of three males fleeing the area on foot.

Anyone with information can call the homicide squad at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
