Make Your Mark: Girl Gang Garage announces custom build competition, open to Canadians

Arizona, United States – Girl Gang Garage has opened a competition on Instagram, calling on women across the world to share their custom builds and the stories behind them.

The runner-up will receive Girl Gang Garage merchandise, the winner will get the merch and have their work showcased with the shop’s owner, Bogi Lateiner.

This competition is one of the many initiatives to empower women in the automotive trades, a bid to draw more women to the skilled trades at large. Depending on the source, subsect and location, female representation in the skilled trades varies between two to five percent.

“Women in all trades with different levels of skill sets need to be recognized, empowered and have a community they can rely on.” said Monica Janoff, an automotive builder at Girl Gang Garage. “Being a woman doesn’t define what type of job we should or shouldn’t have.”

“Any build or modification, regardless of how small, is a step is forward,” said Janoff. “Don’t be scared to send it! Breaking the bias is crucial.”

The competition is open to all women, including those outside the United States. For more information, click here.
