Toronto, Ontario — Honda is recalling nearly 789,000 vehicles globally due to a defect that could result in hood latch failure.
According to a Honda Service Bulletin, the issue is caused by an improper setting of the gap between the vehicle’s hood and grille. Technically, the issue could also result in dealer repair or replacement of the hood or hood latch striker.
The recall covers certain 2019 Passport models; 2016 through 2019 Pilot models and 2017 through 2020 Ridgeline pickup trucks.
Honda said it had received 115 warranty claims globally and no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue.
Approximately 51,325 models may be affected in Canada.
