Chicago, Illinois — Big things are on the way for autobody technicians in the Chicago-area—big things in the form of a new 48,000 square-foot technical centre, that is.
The Chicago Tech Centre, operated through I-CAR, is intended to act as a hub for industry workshops and training for EVs, ADAS calibrations and several other emerging technologies.
“At I-CAR, we have been a part of being impacted by this ‘technology tsunami’ and the speed and volume of these technical changes has been tremendous,” said v-p of technical products, programs and services at I-CAR, Jeff Peevy, in a podcast interview with Adapt Automotive.
“This new facility augments our current facility in Appleton, Wis., which is actually going through some updating as well. We’ll have almost 80,000 square-feet total of technical operations space.”
Peevy specified that the new tech centre will be in no way a collision repair centre, but a technical training lab that supports I-CAR’s leadership in the collision repair space.
I-CAR released a video update for the upcoming Chicago Tech Centre in February.
