CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: USX) has elected Jennifer “Jen” Buckner, senior vice president of Mastercard’s technology risk management team, to its seven-member board of directors.
“We are fortunate to have Jen join our board,” said U.S. Xpress President and CEO Eric Fuller. “She brings not only a diversity of thought from outside the trucking industry but also strengthens connections with our veteran community and military credentialing efforts. We also look forward to leveraging her expertise in cybersecurity, which is a major concern and priority for businesses across the world.”
Buckner’s extensive career in cybersecurity began in the military, where she recently retired as a U.S. Army Brigadier General. During her 30 years of service, Buckner held numerous intelligence and leadership roles, including deployments to Iraq and command in combat. In her last position as Director of Cyber for the U.S. Army, Buckner shaped governance and oversight of cyber capabilities, and championed emerging technologies to detect and disrupt serious cyber threats.
Buckner joined Mastercard in 2019 to lead its global Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance team and now supports its new Technology Risk Management organization as Senior Vice President of Governance, Framework, and Standards.
Buckner holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Management from West Point and an MBA from Central Michigan University. She attended Harvard’s Cybersecurity Executive Education Program and was the National Security Agency’s first Cyber Fellow. She now serves in advisory roles with the Cyber Risk Institute, Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center Cyber Diversity Scholarship, and Partnership for Public Service Cyber Talent Initiative.
