Sydney, Nova Scotia — May 31, 2016 — Steve Lewis Auto Body is set to host a special visitor on Saturday, June 4. The repair facility, located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, will display the 2016 No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS Show Car, a copy of the one recently driven by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. No. 88 will also be on display at Centre 200 on Sunday, June 5.
The show car appearances in Sydney on June 4 and 5 will also celebrate the 10th annual IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body, set for July 16 at Riverside International Speedway. The event that has helped raise awareness and funds for the IWK Foundation since 2007. The IWK Foundation supports IWK Health Centre, a hospital in Halifax that provides care to women, children, and youth from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Steve and Marie Lewis are long-time supporters of the IWK Foundation. They increased their committment to the region’s largest women and children’s hospital by co-founding the IWK 250.
“We’ve been at it for 10 years,” said Steve Lewis in an interview with Collision Repair magazine. “My granddaughter was born three months premature, and was cared for at IWK. We wanted to find a new way to support IWK, and so far we’ve raised close to $300,000. Emily, my granddaughter, turned 10 this year.”
Also on hand will be the 2016 Cat Car for Kids pro stock race car that two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton will drive in the IWK 250. Also on display during the event will be the official Steve Lewis Auto Body’s 2016 IWK 250 Pace Cars, as well as a number of hot rods and muscle cars. Donations will be accepted in support of the IWK Health Centre.
The IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body is widely known as one of the most exciting stock car races in Canada, attracting top NASCAR drivers who test the talents of top regional racers. Only one NASCAR driver, Regan Smith, has visited Victory Circle at the IWK 250, doing so in 2008. Others who have tried include Aric Almirola, Marcos Ambrose, Ricky Craven, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and David Reutimann.
