Toronto, Ontario — The Collision Industry Conference (CIC) announced the agenda for its virtual meeting, Nov. 10-11 on Zoom. Pre-Registration is required to join the meeting and it will operate under the same rules and regulations that an in-person meeting would. Regulations can be found here.
The two-day meeting will begin on November 10.
Day 1 starts at 11:00 am EST with a chairman welcome from Jeff Peevy followed by a 1 hour presentation by Chuck Olsen and Bob Augustine of the Emerging Technology Committee going into detail on the many aspects of coding, programming and initialization of the modern vehicle at 11:15 am.
At 12:15 pm, Darrell Amberson and Chuck Olsen of the Emerging Technologies Committee will continue the CIECA Workflow discussion by presenting details of the work between the CIC committee and CIECA. 12:45 pm marks I-CAR’s Nick Notte taking 15 minutes to respond to requests on developing a new ADAS technician role.
1:00 pm marks a 30 minute Q & A and Open Mic session: Attendees will be able to raise their hand, chat, ask questions and offer comments they feel need to be brought forward. These will be read during this time, if they do not violate anti-trust laws, and others may be able to respond through texting or by raising their virtual hand to address verbally. This will be managed in the order the inquiries are received. At 1:30 pm, David Willett and Winston Cover of the Education & Talent Pool Committee will discuss work around the one thing that, if changed, could make the biggest impact to our industry – talent pool challenges.
The final hour consists of Bob Redding and Darrell Amberson of the Governmental Committee providing an update on the various legislative efforts across the country at 2:00 pm. 2:40 pm marks the second Q & A and Open Mic session, this one will only be 15 minutes. The final five minutes will have Jeff Peevy offer closing comments, finishing the day at 3:00 pm.
Day two, November 11, begins with Jeff Peevy offering opening comments at 11:00 am. At 11:10 am, Jim Keller and Mark Allen of the Industry Relations Committee will discuss “The Pandemic, Lessons Learned and How Might Our Business Models Look Different in the Future.”
At 12:05 pm Dan Risley and Trent Tinsley of the Data Access, Privacy & Security Committee will host a panel discussion regarding the Collision Industry Data Protection and Sharing “Golden Rules.” Following the discussion, the “Golden Rules” will be presented for a formal vote. It is important to note that anyone in attendance is allowed to participate and the committee encourages any interested party to attend, cast their vote and let their voice be heard. Passage of the rules by those attending the virtual CIC would formalize the “Golden Rules” as an official CIC work product.
12:35 pm marks a 30 minute Q & A and Open Mic session.
At 1:05 pm, Jason Bartanen of the Emerging Technology Committee will make a special task force presentation, giving an update and best practice suggestions on steering column inspections. At the July CIC meeting, steering column inspection issues were discussed; feedback is needed from CIC on suggested best practices before we present our findings and requests to the OEMs.
At 1:30 pm, Frank Terlep and Jake Rodenroth of the Future Disruptions Committee will lead a panel discussion on how EVs will disrupt the collision industry. Panelists include Mark Allen of Audi, Andy MacDonald of Lucid, Kelly Logan of Rivian and Mark Zoba of Nissan. The committee will present how electric vehicles will affect the collision industry.
2:20 pm marks the final, 20 minute, Q & A and Open Mic session.
The final event of the CIC virtual meeting concludes with Jeff Peevy making CIC announcements and closing comments from 2:40 pm until 3:00 pm.
