Toronto, Ontario — Collision Repair magazine is saddened to learn of the death of Vincent Martino, the co-founder of the legacied Martino Brothers Collision in Toronto.
Vince began his career as a talented automotive mechanic at British American Motors. In 1955, Vince and his brother, Jack, opened a Texaco Gas and Service Franchise. They quickly outgrew the space and expanded to several properties, establishing Martino Brothers Collision.
Over his career, Vince created a workplace for more than 1,000 technicians, managers and appraisers. He was a keen advocate for personal growth and enjoyed helping anyone further their career.
In addition to Martino Brothers Collision, Vince also sold and serviced frame repair machines, paint spray booths, plastic welders, plasma cutters, welding equipment and more. He also helped to create many bodyshop programs in Toronto high schools during his time as a consultant to the Toronto Board of Education from 1975 to 1995.
In 1980, Vince and Jack opened a coin-operated car wash, the first of its kind in Canada.
“Like everything he does, he put his mechanical expertise and 100 percent passion into this project and it was a resounding success,” wrote Vince’s family in his obituary.
Outside of his time in business, Vince was passionate about fishing, hunting, golf, tennis, swimming, coaching and managing minor hockey. He was also an esteemed member of the Knights of Columbus and a loyal and involved parishioner of All Saints Church.
