In Memoriam: Ron Postma

Ron Postma passed away unexpectedly at his cottage. Postma was an autobody instructor for many years at Robert Bateman High School in Burlington.

Burlington, Ontario — July 11, 2016 — It is with deep regret that we must report the passing of Ron Postma. A true champion of the collision repair industry, Postma was an instructor with Robert Bateman High School in Burlington, Ontario. He was well-known for his tireless efforts to help students enter and thrive in the trade.

Postma, 55, passed away unexpectedly at the cottage he loved on the shore of Lake Chandos. He is survived by the mother of his children, Heather Lynn Prowten Postma, their sons, Cameron, Graham and Bryn, and his brothers Ted and Walter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law Linda Prowten and her husband Bert Mitchell. He was predeceased by his parents Romke and Ina Postma and his brother Jacob.

Postma began his collision indsutry career working at Aldershot Collision, Vaughn Collision, City Automotive and Burlington Aro Motors. In 1998, he became certified at the University of Toronto in the teaching of Technology Studies and spent the remainder of his career teaching for the Halton Board of Education at Robert Bateman High School in Burlington, Ontario.

His students went on to win awards at various Provincial, National and International competitions. He was a technically gifted teacher and his students appreciated his teaching skills.

Memorial donations can be made to Halton Learning Foundation in Support of the High Skill Major in Autobody at Robert Bateman High School or Camp Ke-Mon-Oya c/o North Toronto Christian School in Toronto and would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
