Edmonton, Alberta — A group of car enthusiasts raised $540,000 for the Kids with Cancer Society at a recent car rally in Edmonton.
The yearly event, called July Afterburner Rally is organized by Horsepower for Hope, a group of car lovers, who use their passion for automobiles to raise money for the Kids with Cancer Society.
At this year’s event, the ultra-rare Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 rolled in to support the cause, as well as a Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Lamborghini Huracan STO and Aventador SVJ, and McLaren 765LT, reported Driving.ca.
Horsepower for Hope partnered with the Kids with Cancer Society back in 2019. The goal was to raise $25,000, however, they went above and beyond and raised over $86,000 — more than tripling their original goal. Then in 2020, they blew the lid off again by raising $300,000.
This year, however, Horsepower for Hope raised more than both years combined by raising a whopping $540,000, and again surpassed their initial goal, which was $350,000.
As for next year, the group is aiming to raise a million dollars, which based on their track record, actually seems more than doable.
