Courtenay, British Columbia — In order to celebrate International Women’s Day, Comox Valley Dodge and Georgia Straight Collision hosted an event “Honouring Women in Automotive.”
The event–which was held at Comox Valley Dodge on Friday from six to eight p.m.–was an empowering and trailblazing celebration of women in the automotive industry that invited guests to network, celebrate achievements and gain insights from the experiences of others.
200 guests from across the community were invited to attend the event, with special guests from Jet FM onsite alongside the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) and North Island College.
The title sponsor of the event was Nell Wheeler-Mislang from Axalta Paint Supply. Up-and-coming Formula 3 racer Nicole Havrda also performed as a guest speaker, with both women discussing the challenges of making a space for yourself in the automotive industry.
During the event, guests were encouraged to enjoy drinks and burgers while also receiving a variety of prizes.
According to the initial invitation, this event stood as “a testament to the invaluable contributions of women in an industry traditionally dominated by men.”
With the success of this event in bringing together dynamic women from various facets of the automotive world and showcasing their expertise, innovation and resilience, Comox Valley Dodge and Georgia Straight Collision plan to make “Honouring Women in Automotive” an annual celebration.
