Vancouver, British Columbia — The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) has bad news for some vanity plate applicants, announcing that the corporation had rejected 3,135 plates for failing to meet guidelines.
Standout rejects include U2SLOW, HELL NO, BLURRR, HONDA, 2FAST4U, ALPHA, 0H BOY and ZOOOOM.
According to ICBC, slogans are rejected if they don’t meet technical guidelines and criteria or are deemed objectionable: a cover-all term for discriminatory, sexually suggestive, abusive or
derogatory phases in any language.
Examples of derogatory language reach wide, with LOUD AF, BADMAN and CA-CA all being examples not to follow.
Contrary to popular opinion, the pandemic had its fans—VIRUS, VIRUS1 and VIRUS2 were among the rejects which referenced sensitive issues like politics and public figures.
Applicants for CARTEL, N4RCOS, PCP 7, SOJU and SO HIGH will have to find other means to advertise drug and alcohol sales.
In an unparalleled show of overreaching government regulation, AK47, UZI, GUNN, GANGSTA and WAR were forbidden for glorifying violence, bullying and criminal behaviour.
