Moncton, New Brunswick — The Atlantic Nationals car show will be up and running this summer, but due to COVID-19 restrictions it will be more scaled back in comparison to previous years.
“Think of it as Atlantic Nationals lite, I guess,” said the Atlantic Nations chair, Bill Doherty.
The Moncton-based car show is usually a five-day event bringing in thousands of car enthusiasts and classic car owners. Last year, the event was completely cancelled because of COVID-19. For 2021, the event will involve a biweekly cruising event and a show in Centennial Park lasting for two days at the end of August.
The cruising event is called, “Hagerty Atlantic Nationals City Cruise,” and it will run until September 18. Doherty says that it’s a great way to enjoy the event while staying within the COVID-19 guidelines.
“People get in their car at their home,” said Doherty. “They stay in the car, they cruise the cruise route and return home. Get to see some people along the way, and if they get out or have the ice cream, or whatever … they’re following all the guidelines with their masks on and so on at this time.”
“Atlantic Nationals Fun Run 2021” will take place on August 21 and 22, and it will allow for people to come in and park their vehicles. Registration is currently now online open for the event.
“Centennial Park is large enough that you can social distance very comfortably, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the cars, see folks that they haven’t seen, particularly this year because a lot of people haven’t seen people in a couple of years,” said Doherty. (SOURCE CBC News)
