Toronto, Ontario – In the final 2024 volume of Ford’s On Target newsletter, the automaker details tips on repairing the Mustang Mach-E SUV, including ways to safely work with the high-voltage systems.
Some notable safety tips highlighted in the newsletter include always assuming the vehicle’s high-voltage system is powered up. Here, the high-voltage cables and wiring are identified by orange harness tape or orange wire covering.
When it comes to immobilization, Ford also notes that repairers should be careful not to damage the battery pack while stabilizing or lifting the vehicle by always positioning the wheel and tire chocks.
Furthermore, repairers should “put the vehicle into the park position and ensure the parking brake is engaged.” From here, “the vehicle should be lifted or manipulated only by personnel that are properly trained and equipped.”
To ensure their safety, repairers should be aware that the high-voltage battery is located behind an underbody air shield underneath the vehicle.
Finally, the high-voltage battery should never be used to lift or stabilize the vehicle.
