Oshawa, Ontario — General Motors (GM) is looking to fill a number of jobs ahead of the reopening of the Oshawa Assembly Plant.
GM is looking to fills jobs in engineering, management, skilled trades, and production.
Because the decision to move the plant in 2019 was highly contested by employees who would lose their job the decision was announced in November 2020 that they would be bringing back vehicle production at the Oshawa plant after Unifor rallied for the facility in its negotiations with GM.
When this decision was announced in November 2020, many people who lost their jobs just a year earlier are now beyond thankful to be given a “second chance.”
In a press release, GM said they would be hiring up to 1,700 workers as they invested about $1 billion into construction at the plant for a new pickup line.
