Get WITT It: Saskatchewan Polytechnic launches womens’ weekend skilled trades workshops across five campuses

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Women in Trades and Technology (WITT) program is proud to launch several programs across its five campuses, providing women a chance to improve their skills or launch a career in the trades.

The Saskatoon campus offers an introductory course over four weekends for $300, teaching the basics of auto body, automotive service, carpentry, parts management, industrial mechanics, agricultural equipment, machining and welding.

The Regina campus offers a similar introductory course over four weekends for $300, teaching the basics of auto body, automotive service, carpentry, parts management, electrical, machining, parts management, plumbing and welding.

The Moose Jaw campus offers a workshop from March 18 to March 19 for $150, covering electrical and welding fundamentals.

The Prince Albert campus offers a unique creative welding workshop on May 6 to May 7—the weekend before Mother’s Day. Participants will work with a partner to create roses, lilies, daisies or cat tails by assembling, shaping and finishing steel components.

The Prince Albert campus also offers a course in industrial mechanics and welding between Feb. 4 to Feb. 5, and costs $150.
