Toronto, Ontario — Mazda is launching its first-ever all-electric vehicle, the MX-30 EV, which will go on sale in fall of 2021 starting at participating dealerships in Quebec and British Columbia.
The company says this new vehicle is its first step towards its “commitment to electrification.”
With a starting price of $42,150, the MX-30 has an estimated range of 161 kilometres on a full charge and is equipped with a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in 36 minutes using a Level 3: DC 50 kW fast charger.
The MX-30 EV comes with $500 ChargePoint credit and complimentary two-year/32,000 km scheduled maintenance plan included with ownership.
The vehicle also features a 80.9 kW electric motor, delivering a horsepower of 143 and 200 lb-ft of torque.
The vehicle’s design embodies what the company calls a “Human Modern” concept. The MX-30 has freestyle doors, a floating center console, a seven-inch touchscreen that provides access to the climate control and upholstery made from recycled fabrics.
The MX-30 EV also also includes, several safety features including Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Smart City Brake Support Front, forward-sensing Pedestrian Detection, Smart Brake Support Front, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, and High Beam Control.
