Toronto, Ontario – May 17, 2019 – Fiat Chrysler is recalling 208,000 minivans in North America due to an issue with its power-assisted steering.
The recall covers a selection of Chrysler Pacifica minivan models from 2017 through 2019. All of the vehicles contain a feature that turns off the engine when the vehicle is stopped at a traffic light.
According to the OEM, a wiring harness can become contaminated with sealer, resulting in an electrical short-circuit and the engine to stall. If the engine stalls, the vehicle can still be restarted immediately, and it can still be steered without power steering, but it will take a lot more effort.
