Detroit, United States — Nissan is recalling more than 809,000 SUVs in Canada and the United States, citing key fob problems that could result in the ignition shutting off in the middle of a drive.
According to a Tuesday report first released by the Associated Press, this recall affects the 2014 to 2020 Nissan Rogue series and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport SUVs.
Due to the jackknife folding design of the SUV’s keys, a partially folded key could turn the engine off if touched while the vehicle is in motion. This may result in the engine and power breaks losing power and air bags failing to inflate in a crash.
While Nissan reports no crashes or injuries from this issue, the OEM recommends owners not to attach anything to the key ring and contacting their dealers if they have keys that do not stay in the open position.
