Markham, Ontario — If you’re a technician out there looking for an in at a top-tier bodyshop, Pfaff Autoworks’ Markham location may have just the opportunity you’re looking for, as the shop gears up for a job fair next week.
On the calendar for next Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at Pfaff’s 8590 McCowan Road Porsche Centre, representatives from the MSO will be there to meet face-to-face with potential employees, in the hopes of tapping into some of the local talent the Greater Toronto Area has to offer.
For Pfaff Autoworks general manager, Jeff Pabst, the fair provides an opportunity to expose people to the reality of a modern collision repair facility.
“I think the industry has matured immensely in the past decade or so, and many collision centres these days are modern, technically advanced laboratories,” said Pabst.
“[There has been] a departure from the dark and dusty body shop that people’s perception usually brings up.”
He says that with technology and vehicle materials advancing as rapidly as they have over recent years, the bar has been raised for what is asked of today’s collision repair technician.
“The cars of today are so advanced in how they operate and how they are made, so technicians are exposed to multiple materials and repair processes that didn’t exist ten years ago. I really see the industry continuing a rapid advance in repair methods, materials and related technology with much more specialized repair processes, training, equipment and tooling.”
Pfaff Autoworks is looking to fill every collision centre role at their Markham facility, including: apprentice body tech, painter, prepper, detailer, customer service representative, repair planner, receptionist and parts coordinator.
