Toronto, Ontario — In this weekly electric and autonomous vehicle report, a Tesla Cybertruck turns into a solar panel at the Consumer Electronics Show through a flexible solar wrap; while a Waymo robo-taxi traps its passenger inside while doing donuts in a parking lot.
Solar flare
Last week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, a Tesla Cybertruck completely wrapped in flexible solar panels was showcased.
The design was specifically shown off by SunFlare, an organization that works on developing adaptable solar technology.
The panels featured on the Cybertruck were reportedly SunFlare’s Solar Car Film, with the company stating that this technology combines more traditional vehicle wrapping mechanics and materials with solar cells in order to help provide power to the vehicle for every day use.
Currently, the entire set up costs approximately $10,000, including the cost of manufacturing and labour.

Donut dispair
Mike Johns was a passenger in a driverless Waymo robotaxi before quickly finding himself in a spinning situation.
As noted in a report from the BBC, Johns had entered the vehicle in order to travel to an airport in Scottsdale, Arizona before it began spinning in circles in the parking lot.
Johns recorded the event, beginning the video by lamenting why this had to happen to him on a Monday of all days.
The unanticipated event caused Johns to almost miss his flight.
