EV/AV Report: Tesla Cybertruck owner racks up 50,000 miles; while Switzerland announces the regulation of autonomous driving

Toronto, OntarioIn this electric and autonomous vehicle report, a Tesla Cybertruck with a little over 50,000 miles registered is supposedly the highest-mileage version of the vehicle in the world. Meanwhile, the government of Switzerland has announced that it is regulating the use of autonomous driving within the country.

Mastering mileage

A YouTube video by TesLatino highlights a Tesla Cybertruck that has logged just over 50,000 miles since March. This is supposedly the highest-mileage version of the vehicle in the world.

After a trip to the Arctic Ocean, the vehicle’s range estimate was 318 miles on a full charge. Now, however, the vehicle’s owner says this estimate never exceeds 309 miles with a full battery.

The vehicle owner also reported that after racking up the mileage, the only issue with the truck was the motorized tonneau cover, which, according to online sources, was misaligned a couple of times.

Moreover, the recall for the truck’s accelerator pedal was also performed, and the pedal cover was riveted at the bottom to prevent it from sliding out and blocking the accelerator.

The driver praised the vehicle’s steer-by-wire system, though Cybertruck’s rear motor was eventually swapped out for a new unit so that Tesla itself could evaluate any potential damage.

This decision was made because the automaker agrees that this is the highest-mileage Cybertruck capable of providing real-world information on the hardware.

Swiss switches

The government of Switzerland has announced that starting in 2025, vehicles in the country will be allowed to use autonomous driving functions on freeways.

According to online sources, Level 3 autonomous systems will be allowed, which permit drivers to regain control at the system’s request and further require their full awareness.

However, drivers using Level 3 systems will also be allowed to remove their hands from the wheel and automated parking without the driver being present will be allowed once the country designates parking spaces for this purpose.
