Toronto, Ontario — Canada’s overall length of rental (LOR) has decreased by a half day from 2019’s third quarter, according to a recent report by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
According to Enterprise’s Canada Average Length of Rental by Province report for the third-quarter of 2020, Canada’s overall LOR currently sits at 11.3 days, down one-half a day from 11.8 in Q3 of 2019.
Prince Edward Island boasted the shortest 2020 third-quarter LOR for Canada at 9.5 days—up from 9.1 days in Q3 of 2019. Runners-up are Maritime neighbours Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, with an LOR of 10.8 days and Newfoundland and Labrador with an LOR of 11.4 days.
Alberta leads the way for longest LOR with a 1.8 day increase from the same period in 2019. The increase, however, is unsurprising given the province’s weather woes, said Enterprise.
“Alberta continues to see increases due to this year’s hailstorms,” read the report, likely referring to the June hailstorm that hit the Airdrie, Calgary and Rocky View County areas that caused more than $1.2 billion in damages, according to the Insurance Bureau of Canada. The current LOR for Alberta sits at 12.8 days, up from 11.0 in Q3 of 2019.
Quebec had the third-longest LOR this quarter at 10.5 days, while Ontario took second place at 11.9 days.
Even still, both provinces saw slices to Enterprise LOR numbers—Ontario cut 1.2 days from its LOR, while Quebec cut 0.1 days.
