Toronto, Ontario — March 25, 2019 — The Ed Coates Foundation has donated $25,000 worth of tools including welding machines, spray guns, and a brand-new hoist to Pitt Meadows Secondary School’s automotive program in British Columbia.
The donation came in response to the high school’s lack of tools and equipment, which was affecting the student’s ability to perform tasks inside one of the school’s bodyshop bays.
The Ed Coates Memorial Foundation was created by Coates’s wife and children after his sudden passing in 2014. Coates had a passion for the automotive industry and was the owner of Lordco Parts. His family created this charitable organization for the for his legacy to live on and help community groups.
“On behalf of School District 42 Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows and I would like to thank the Ed Coates Memorial Foundation (ECMF) for their generous support of our secondary shop programs,” said Steve Wiebe principal of Youth Train In Trades and Work In Trades programs.
“They have gone above and beyond with their donations of high-quality tools and equipment to all of our secondary schools. I would like to mention specifically the donation the Ed Coates Memorial Foundation has made last month to Pitt Meadows Secondary School’s automotive and metal fabrication programs – their donation of a hoist, and an assortment of tools have enhanced these programs immeasurably.”
