Münster, Germany – While whites, blacks and greys remain a staple, BASF’s coatings division notes the continued emergence of earth-tone hues that speak to an ongoing sustainable push in the world of car colours.
According to Thursday’s report, mid-tone pastels emerge with an overall focus on lighter shades and the exploration of new, expressive colours across global vehicle trends.
The report notes that in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, pastel beige is all the rage, and this is in turn contrasted by cars in the Asian Pacific which feature bright pops of shimmering greens and fluorescent reds.
In the Americas, softer hues of yellow and green are the most popular with the report outlining how “colours in the Americas contribute to cooling effects in the vehicle with solar reflectance [and] work with sensor-based mobility concepts.”
Across all areas, car coatings demonstrate a continued push for sustainability through the use of recycled raw materials, LIDAR and RADAR-compatible concepts and haptic surfaces.
