Winnipeg, Manitoba — A list of medalists from the Skills Canada Manitoba 2023 provincial competition has been released, with six students proudly bringing back proof of their proficiency in autobody repair technique.
Notably, all three medalists in the post-secondary autobody repair competition came from Red River College Polytechnic. Two students from Steinbach Regional Secondary school came home with a gold and bronze medal, while one student from Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School returned with a silver medal.
According to Skills Canada Manitoba, each year’s competition typically averages around 475 students across 42 skilled trades contests in six industry sectors, with 500 volunteers making the competitions possible.
“Congratulations to all RRC Polytech students that recently competed at the Skills Manitoba Competition, we are proud of all their accomplishments. And a special congratulations to all the medallists, we look forward to seeing our gold medallist’s take on the upcoming national competition here in our hometown,” said Leonard Reimer, an instructor at Red River College Polytechnic in a statement to Collision Repair.
“Thank you to everyone for stepping up and ensuring that the Skills Manitoba Competition was a go! Congratulations, and job well done to all of the competitors,” reads a press release by Skills Canada Manitoba.
The national Skills Canada competition will take place in Winnipeg, Man. from May 24 to May 27.
