Lethbridge, Alberta – If there’s a province with trucks to spare, it’s Alberta—and spare they have, for the sake of Lethbridge College’s automotive service tech program who has just received a donation of a 2020 Ford F-150 and a 2020 Ford Expedition.
Courtesy of Dunlop Ford in Lethbridge and Ford of Canada, these two vehicles were among 30 sent out to automotive programs across the country to help promote skilled trades education.
“I think it’s going to be huge for them to be working on the latest engines and transmission and electronic components of a 2020 vehicle,” said Dunlop Ford president Gary Dunlop.
According to Sheldon Anderson, Lethbridge College’s dean of the Centre for Trades, having access to a new model year vehicle is an invaluable addition to the program’s resources.
“This is what we really need to keep the college at the cutting edge,” he said
“Whenever we can get support from the industry, it really helps us to be able to train on the newest and greatest things.”
Anderson said that about 200-250 students per year will have the opportunity to train on these new vehicles.
