Toronto, Ontario — February 28, 2019 — DriveNow and car2go have combined to create SHARE NOW, the world’s market leader in flexible carsharing.
SHARE NOW, which is available in 30 cities worldwide including Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary, has a fleet of more than 20,000 BMW, Mercedes-Benz, smart, and MINI vehicles shared by over four million members. Oliver Reppert, a former managing director of car2go, will lead the joint carsharing company. SHARE NOW is one of five mobility services under the joint venture of the BMW Group and Daimler AG.
“SHARE NOW has a clear vision: to create sustainable mobility for and with cities – with far less traffic and reduced emissions,” said Reppert. One carshare vehicle already replaces as many as eight privately-owned cars. “Our service improves quality of life in cities because we offer a cost-efficient and flexible alternative to owning a car. And we’re still only at the beginning. With the joint expertise and resources of two powerful carsharing services, SHARE NOW will continue to grow in the future and convince even more people to opt-in for our flexible mobility service,” said Reppert.
More than 120 million kilometers in approximately 3,200 electric vehicles have already been driven by SHARE NOW users making it the largest provider of free-floating e-carshare.
