A 20-year-old from Hayward with end-stage kidney disease was chosen as one of 12 recipients as part of the Subaru Week of Wishes program, in partnership with Make-A-Wish®
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Moises De Paz, 20, has end-stage kidney disease. Moises thought he was going to run errands with his sister-in-law, but instead, he was surprised by the Make-A-Wish team, Subaru partners, family and friends, with a beach-themed bash at Capitol Subaru to celebrate the granting of his wish. The reveal event included a hula performance by the Legacies of the Pacific, along with a Kona Ice truck and his favorite snacks.
“We know how physically and emotionally difficult medical treatments can be for children and their families,” said DGDG’s Capitol Subaru General Sales Manager Fernando Roque. “We hope that our efforts can provide children like Moises with strength and positivity to fight against a critical illness.”
“DGDG’s Capitol Subaru has partnered with Make-A-Wish since 2011 and we are grateful for our longtime partnership which allows us to help grant wishes for deserving wish kids,” said DGDG CEO Jeremy Beaver. “This is just one of the many ways DGDG gives back to local communities throughout the year.”
Year-round, DGDG supports their local communities through DGDG Does Good, the charitable arm of the Del Grande Dealer Group. Through financial contributions, collaborations with nonprofit organizations, and employee volunteerism, DGDG Does Good brings positive lasting change to the community. To date, nearly $1 million has been donated to worthy causes and recipients.
Approximately 27,000 children are diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition each year, according to Make-A-Wish, and research shows that a wish can lead to better health outcomes and a higher chance of survival. Helping to grant wishes like Moises’ is just one way Capitol Subaru is committed to supporting the health and well-being of the community.
“We are incredibly thankful for the ongoing support from DGDG’s Capitol Subaru,” said Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area CEO Betsy Biern. “It’s thanks to our community partners that we are able to bring hope and joy to wish kids like Moises and transform lives in the community, one wish at a time.”
Capitol Subaru is one of a dozen Subaru retailers across the country helping to grant children’s wishes over the span of one week as part of a national “Week of Wishes” initiative to make a lasting impact to wish children, their families, and communities. Through the annual Subaru Share the Love® Event holiday campaign, more than 600 Subaru retailers across the country partner with Make-A-Wish to support children and families impacted by critical illness. Since 2011, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated more than $32 million, helping to grant 3,300 wishes in the U.S.
