Ottawa, Ontario — Ford is recalling 95,000 Canadian F-150 trucks because transmissions can reportedly suddenly downshift to first gear no matter what speed the vehicle is going.
Transport Canada’s recall notice cites a problem with the output shaft speed sensor on certain 2014 model year F-150 pickup trucks built in Dearborn, Michigan. If the sensor loses connection, there could be a total loss of control.
A further 552,188 trucks are affected in the United States.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also noted there could be corrosion and issues in the trucks’ transmission connector pins.
