Sidney, British Columbia — January 30, 2017 — A Sidney area single-mother and her family will be supplied with a vehicle, insurance, clothing, haircuts, fitness passes and more, thanks in part to the hard work of Sidney-based CSN-Superior Collision and the Acoat selected Benevolence Program.
CSN-Superior Collision has been participating in the program for a few years now, and according to Allison Peters, one of the owners, it’s a great opportunity to help the community. “This was our fifth year participating in this program and we are fortunate to be involved with such a charitable project,” says Peters, explaining that the idea is to keep the program going for quite some time. “The Acoat selected Benevolence Program allows local community businesses, such as CSN-Superior Collision, to give back to the community that we live in, work in, and depend on. This has become an annual program for us.”
Vehicles cost more than the initial price. Simply owning and maintaining them can be expensive. Acoat’s benevolence program seeks to mitigate this. The Saunders family will also receive mechanical assistance and insurance, alongside many other donations.
“We were able to provide not only the car, but also insurance, tires, roadside assistance, parts, mechanical services, yearlong fitness passes, haircuts, family activity passes, gift certificates, food, necessary household supplies, as well as family activities for them to enjoy,” says Peters, “ It was truly the community that put this vehicle together and it is only with the support and assistance from others that these cars are reconditioned and able to be presented to deserving individuals.”
According to Peters, there are wide-reaching positive effects that come from these giveaways.
“In the past five years we have seen this change the lives of the recipient, some no longer needing food bank assistance, others being able to make some really positive life changes for themselves and their families as a result of the community coming together the way they do. It is a rewarding opportunity and we are fortunate to help bring this project together. We’ve seen firsthand how a little bit from a lot of people has such a huge impact on a deserving family,” she says. “It is truly a little bit from a lot of people that makes it as successful as it is.”
