Missisuaga, Ontario — December 19, 2017 — Cox Automotive Canada has launched an impact campaign in a bid to remind drivers of the perils of impaired or distracted driving. The company has released a series of videos that will bring attention to some of the causes of death behind the wheel.
Approximately four Canadians every day are killed due to impaired driving crashes, according to Cox Automotive Canada. The company further claims distracted driving has grown to the number one risk on our roads, as well as becoming the contributing factor in 80 percent of collisions.
“As an automotive company, it is important to continue to remind Canadians of the risks of impaired and distracted driving,” said Maria Soklis, President of Cox Automotive Canada. “If this campaign saves even one life, it will have been worthwhile.”
The campaign will run three videos created in both French and English, and feature several Cox Automotive Canada executives from the company’s Dealertrack and NextGear Capital businesses. It targets the automotive community, as well as Canadians over the holiday season, through the company’s media channels.
The campaign comes at a time when distracted driving is coming under increased media scrutiny across the country. This month Collision Repair magazine covered a study that found Ontario drivers are worried the legalization of marijuana could cause more collisions, as well as the announcement British Columbia is launching two new programs to curb distracted drivers.
