Chilliwack, British Columbia — Ashley Leclair, a single mother to two six-year-old boys and a three-year-old daughter, had her car break down in September, just as her children were headed back to school. Since then, Ashley had been walking the boys to and from school—a half-hour walk there and another half-hour back—five days a week.
But now, thanks to Valley Toyota and Fix Auto Chilliwack East, Ashley has the freedom of transportation at her fingertips. She was brought to the Fix Auto facility on Dec. 18, where employees and business owners surprised her with the 2003 Toyota Matrix.
The vehicle was donated from Valley Toyota, while Fix Auto Chilliwack East provided the bodywork and paint. This is the 16th year of the car giveaway.
“Each year we look forward to participating in the Christmas Car Giveaway and helping someone in our community,” said Niels Larsen, sales manager at Valley Toyota. “It takes everyone involved to make this event as special as it is. We are so excited Ashley is this year’s winner and Valley Toyota is a part of helping her family.”
Other local companies participated as well; Hub International Barton Insurance presented Ashley with six months of car insurance to get her going. Staff at Simpson Auto Mechanical Repairs went through it thoroughly on the mechanical system. Napa Auto Parts provided parts for the Matrix, as well as remote control cars for Ashley’s twins and a tablet for her daughter.
Big-O Tires provided tires, gift cards and other goodies, while Certifed Auto Sound installed a remote starter and a Bluetooth audio system.
