Las Vegas, Nevada — October 12, 2017 — The automotive industry and the materials it uses are ever-evolving, but how can collision repair shops stay ahead of the curve and ready themselves for new innovations?
Ken Boylan, Global Training Manager at Chief Automotive Technologies, will look at the latest cutting-edge technologies in his presentation at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The presentation will be one of a few hand-selected seminars in the SCRS Repairer Driven Education series.
Each course in the series has been selected by SCRS because the content specifically focuses on issues and information that are relevant to professionals working in today’s collision repair marketplace. Boylan will focus on technology and what it means for collision repairers moving forward.
The presentation, “Technical: Current and Future Technologies 2017 and Beyond” will look at new vehicle construction materials and the technologies and techniques needed to repair vehicles today and in the future. Boylan will explore both future and current technology that is not being used or optimized, including hybrid welding techniques, reusable adhesives, laser welding technology and friction stir welding.
Boylan said: “The presentation will look at the evolution of vehicles, materials and repair techniques, and how those working in the collision repair industry can learn to use both current and future technologies to stay ahead of the trend and keep their business on top.”
He will state that shop owners need an awareness of the changes that are coming to the industry, and that a paradigm shift, both in terms of skill set and mind set, is needed for the industry to progress and adapt to future challenges.
“A lot of people in the industry don’t have easy access to the training and knowledge that would make them better at their job. There are organizations out there for those interested in learning new techniques and skills, but we need increased awareness on the importance of these new skills and technologies” said Boylan.
Boylan will take a look at what the repair industry will look like in the future, and discuses the new skills, technologies and equipment needed to meet the challenges that arise. This will involve a discussion on how collision repair shops will have to elvolve as vehicle construction and the techniques needed to fix these cars will change.
