Toronto, Ontario — A GoFundMe has been launched on behalf of Wayne James, former director of operations for Maaco Canada and current director of operations for AutoQuip Canada, who is currently facing a complicated form of cancer.
Wayne’s wife Kim Parkinson said he was diagnosed with cancer in March 2020.
“The past year and a half have been extremely tough,” wrote Kim on the GoFundMe campaign. “Wayne has given his life to the automotive industry with great passion, pride and loyalty; and now, we are asking for your help.”
Kim said Wayne has undergone various treatments and taken “too many medications to list” since receiving his diagnosis. A new treatment will soon be available, but it’s not cheap. According to Kim, the cost for this new medication can be upwards of $90,000 per year.
Launched on October 5, Wayne’s GoFundMe has already generated nearly $600 toward its $100,000 goal.
“As many of you know, Wayne is always one of the first to offer his assistance,” said Marc Tremblay, Wayne’s industry colleague, who launched the GoFundMe. “Today I am advocating for my friend and mentor.”
