Houston, Texas — June 14, 2016 — BASF recently hosted a ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate its new competence centre in Houston, Texas. The highlight of the open house was the appearance of automotive designers Chip Foose, owner of Foose Design, and KC Mathieu, previously featured on the hit series Fast N’ Loud.
Guests were welcomed by Chris Toomey, BASF Senior Vice President, Coatings Solutions North America, for the official ribbon cutting ceremony. BASF opened the 13,000 sq. ft. building in March. The centre includes the latest in virtual and in-person training facilities, state-of-the-art spray booths and market-leading application equipment to enable next generation training for all job functions in the collision repair industry.
Both Foose and Mathieu are big draws based on their names alone. Together they’re an even bigger draw. However this event offered something more: a chance to see them both in action in the paint booth.
Foose illustrated his expertise by mixing a custom copper metallic. He created a fade and demonstrated the fast flash-off of the Glasurit 90 Line. Mathieu sprayed a fender with R-M Onyx HD in a bright blue. His shop, KC’s Paint Shop, is located in Fort Worth, Texas.
