Toronto, Ontario — According to an email shared on the Tesla Model Y Canadian Group, some Tesla Model Y owners have received codes to redeem free All-Weather Protection Kits.
The protection kit retails for $110 CAD and includes two front mud flaps, clear protective film for rear fenders and accessories to install the components.
Previously in 2020, Tesla offered similar kits to Model 3 owners in select regions after facing a class-action lawsuit. In the lawsuit, Model 3 owners say their vehicles were not equipped for winter roadway conditions, experiencing paint degradation within months of use.
Model Y owners in East and West Canada are advised to check their emails or contact their local service center for more information. According to Drive Tesla Canada, Model Ys sold in select regions of Canada and the United States had pre-installed protection kits since August 2021, therefore drivers who purchased Model Ys prior to Aug. 2021 should be eligible for a free kit.
