Red Deer, Alberta — July 9, 2015 — June is now the dedicated Shine Month at CARSTAR, with stores in the chain committed to fundraising for the research and treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF).
The stand-out store was the outlet in Red Deer, Alberta. Owned and operated by Darryl Hemstreet, the outlet raised over $7600 for CF last month. This is an impressive amount.
“We try to do a good job each year. But we did really good this year,” says Hemstreet. He credits his employees with the strong showing. Over the month, every production hour employee donated $2 to the charity. Team members also sold raffle tickets to win a Playstation or new Samsung tablet.
“The staff worked hard to come up with this money. We all know we have a bigger a responsibility than just coming to work. We try to cultivate that kind of attitude around here,” says Hemstreet.
The team generated $4,000 with the “gift of time,” and another $3,000 from the raffle. One hundred percent of the money was donated to the local CF chapter.
