Hamilton, Ontario — June 3, 2014 — For the last decade, the annual Soaps It Up fundraising car wash was a highlight in the month of June for CARSTAR stores as it helped raise over $2 million for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. This year CARSTAR aims to raise $200,000, starting with nearly 100 CARSTAR centres across Canada participating in their first Shine Month.
Shine Month is an entire month dedicated to fundraising for CF Canada and local charities and demonstrating the network’s commitment to communities.
“Soaps It Up has been so successful for the past 10 years and Shine Month will build on this,†says Lisa Mercanti-Ladd, Executive Vice-President at CARSTAR. “Having a whole month to fundraise instead of one day means we can do more for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and the local charities that our stores support.â€
Earlier this year CARSTAR received the Corporate Citizen Award from the Canadian Franchise Association acknowledging exceptional corporate social responsibility across the entire franchise network. The contributions of CARSTAR franchise partners, staff and corporate employees were the foundation of this recognition among the best of Canadian franchises. CARSTAR also received the Corporate Champion Award form CF Canada as a top partner of the not-for-profit that provides lifesaving research and care for Canadians with CF.
As CARSTAR dedicates the entire month of June to raising funds for CF Canada, stores are getting creative in their fundraising and engaged in their communities. In addition to hosting car washes, CARSTAR teams participated in the Great Strides Walk for CF Canada, others are donating money for every hour of production labour. To work with local sports teams and charity groups, stores are also selling CF-branded kites and CARSTAR Shine detailing kits with proceeds going to CF Canada and the local groups.
