Red Deer, Alberta — March 30, 2017 — CARSTAR Canada recently teamed up with the Red Deer Rebels to present a van to the Red Deer Youth and Volunteer Centre (Youth HQ) at the Red Deer Rebels hockey game. Youth HQ operate the Boys and Girls Club of Red Deer as well as the Big Brothers/Big Sisters chapter in Central Alberta.
“This van will go a long way for our organization, with daily transportation for community activities to providing safe transportation for children and youth in our various programs,” says Kris Fleckenstein, Chair, Youth HQ. “We’re grateful for our partnerships with CARSTAR Canada and the Red Deer Rebels, and are thrilled to have this generous presence in our community.”
In the fall of 2016, CARSTAR Red Deer Downtown and CARSTAR Red Deer South purchased a 2016 Dodge Caravan that had considerable collision damage. This van was seen as an opportunity to the Red Deer CARSTAR locations, as a way to give back to the community. In the months following the purchase, CARSTAR staff and families in Red Deer volunteered their time to repair and refurbish the van.
CARSTAR and the Red Deer Rebels were able to present the van to Youth HQ at the Red Deer Rebels’ last home game of the year, with some young hockey fans from Youth HQ in attendance. Darryl Hemstreet of CARSTAR Red Deer was extremely proud of their accomplishment, and all the work leading up to the big giveaway.
“My sincerest thanks goes out to all of the staff at both CARSTAR Red Deer locations who helped make this donation possible,” said Hemstreet. “Giving back to the community in Central Alberta is a big part of who we are, and we could not have done this without the support of our amazing CARSTAR staff.”
