Ottawa, Ontario — January 17, 2017 — CARSTAR Collision and Glass and Discount Car and Truck Rentals joined forces recently to host an education day for the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO). RIBO was established in 1981 as a self-regulatory body for Ontario’s insurance brokers.
The training event took place at the Ottawa Conference and Event Center in Ottawa, Ontario. Three courses were presented to attending brokers: Keys to Keys, presented by CARSTAR, Understanding the Insurance Replacement Car Process (hosted by Discount Car and Truck Rentals) and Total Loss, presented by CARSTAR.
“Keys to Keys” focuses on the CARSTAR repair process, filling brokers in on what they need to know about how CARSTAR handles customers and repair orders. Discount’s course, “Insurance Replacement Rental Process” naturally focuses on broker information regarding rental cars and “Total Loss” digs into the concept of “Who’s Loss Is It?”
“These education sessions will give brokers the knowledge to better equip them for what to expect in the industry, while also providing the tools to give them an edge; whether it’s securing prospective business or maintaining client relationships,” says Courtney Thompson, Account Coordinator – Insurance Sales for Discount Car and Truck Rentals.
There are plans in the works to bring the training to other RIBO brokers in the coming months.
“The session in Ottawa focused on area brokers from a number of different companies. Judging by the feedback from attendees, I would definitely say the day was a success,” says Collin Welsh, Regional Development Manager – GTA and Eastern Ontario for CARSTAR. “We have and will continue to host RIBO sessions one-on-one at individual broker offices. We’re also going to host more central education days in various parts of the province, which allows all the brokers in that area to participate and choose from a selection of courses available to them.”
