Canadian Commitment: PPG wins paint and body equipment award from Uni-Select

Toronto, Ontario — Uni-Select took centre stage in Las Vegas, Nevada last week to announce the winners of its annual awards for Canadian suppliers, celebrating the achievements, innovation and service of is most performant partners. 

The brand recognized PPG Canada for its commitment and support to the collision repair industry, awarding the company an “Achiever” award for its auto paint and body equipment.

“On behalf of all of us at PPG Canada, we are honoured to receive this award,” Norm Angrove, director, automotive refinish for PPG Canada told Collision Repair.  “Our commitment to providing world-class products, systems and processes to both distribution and end-user customers is on ongoing focus at PPG. We look forward to our continued partnership with Uni-Select, its members and end-user customers.”

Uni-Select also honoured several other brands: Blue Streak-Hygrade Motor products was noticed for its sales tools for independent jobbers and installers, while Tenneco⁠—now known as DriV⁠—had the marketing campaign of the year. Dorman Products won an award for its tech-savviness; supplier SureWerx received the Diamond Award for its products and service; BBB Industries walked away with its achievements in automotive parts sales fully recognized, and NOCO won an award for its collision repair tools and equipment.

It was also announced on Tuesday that PPG had earned a 2019 R&D 100 award in the mechanical materials category for its Powercron 160 anionic epoxy e-coat. Designed for manufacturers who finish complex cast profiles in the automotive, heavy-duty equipment and related industries, the e-coat enables high film builds over multiple substrates and pretreatment chemistries. Previously, anionic e-coats had to be matched to specific pretreatments and metal substrates, which added complexity, cost and energy use to the coatings process.

PPG has developed and delivered paints, coatings and specialty materials to its customers for more than 135 years. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Penn., the company operates in more than 70 countries, serving its customers in construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets and aftermarkets.
