The CAF-FCA’s Supporting Women in Trades Conference is coming to Halifax from November 6-7. Expected to bring about 300 members of Canada’s apprenticeship and skilled trades community together, the two-day event offers participants the opportunity to find out about the initiatives underway across Canada to help address the challenges faced by women working in the skilled trades. Open to women in trades, employers, labour organizations, governments and educators, registration is available for $199 plus taxes.
Once again, this year’s event is being sponsored by the Government of Nova Scotia. This year, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency and Women Unlimited are hoping to build consensus on how to make the trades more open to women. To kickstart this, a forum designed for women working and learning in the trades has been added to the program this year. The discussion forum will result in concrete recommendations for sustainable change.
