Toronto, Ontario — December 4, 2018 — Minnesota-based ABRA Auto Body & Glass has been bought by Caliber Collision, a source has revealed to Collision Repair magazine late Tuesday. A public announcement is expected today.
In a memo released to staff, it was announced that there were no plans to close any ABRA facilities, but that they would switch to operating under the Caliber name and under the corporate leadership of Caliber president and CEO Steve Grimshaw.
With more than 600 Caliber locations across the U.S. prior to the sale, the purchase brings Caliber’s total just less than 1,000 locations.
Founded in Texas in 1997, Caliber Collision operates in 19 U.S. states.
Founded in 1983 in Minnesota, ABRA originally was an acronym for Auto Body Refinishers of America. In 1989, the title was officially changed to ABRA Auto Body & Glass.
