Boyd Group expands in Michigan

Winnipeg, Manitoba — June 20, 2015

The Boyd Group has announced the acquisition and opening of a collision repair centre in Battle Creek, Michigan. The center has about 19,000 sq. ft. of production space and previously operated under the name Phil Smead’s Auto Body. The facility will now operate under the Gerber Collision & Glass name.

“This is Gerber’s second location in Battle Creek and adds to our strong presence in the state of Michigan,” says Tim O’Day, President and COO of the Boyd Group’s U.S. operations. “As we continue to expand in the state we are able to better serve our customers and insurance partners.

“This is a large facility that has been serving the Battle Creek community since 1980. We will maintain the high level of customer service and quality that has been established over the past 35 years and that we are known for at all our Gerber repair centres. Our portfolio continues to grow and we are on track to meet our targeted 2015 growth rate of 6 to 10 percent through single store additions.”

The Boyd Group is the largest operator of non-franchised collision repair centres in North America in terms of number of locations, operating in five Canadian provinces under the trade name Boyd Autobody & Glass as well as in 17 US states under the trade names Gerber Collision & Glass and Champ’s Collision Centers. Boyd Group units trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol BYD.UN. For more information, please visit boydgroup.com.
