Winnipeg, Manitoba — October 31, 2016 — The Boyd Group seems to be on an expansion drive in North Carolina. Collision Repair magazine recently reported on the company’s acquisition of the former collision repair department of Hastings Ford in Greenville. Boyd Group has just announced the acquisition of another collision centre in Greenville, Bland & Newsome Auto Body Repair, located in a busy retail corridor about 6.5 km from the shop that opened on October 17.
The new facility will operate under the Gerber Collision & Glass name.
“This is a fast growing region and when we saw the opportunity, we added a second location in Greenville,” said Tim O’Day, President and COO of the Boyd Group’s US Operations. “This will enable us to better serve customers and insurance partners in North Carolina’s Tidewater region.”
In between acquiring the two shops in Greenville, the Boyd Group also announced it had acquired body shops in Indiana and Michigan. The latest Greenville acquisition marks the 41st new shop added to the Boyd Group fold since the start of 2016.
Industry consultant Brad Mewes, noted Boyd’s growth in his recent report “Collision M&A Consolidation Trends Update.”
“Boyd, which operates as Gerber in the U.S., continues its rather measured and consistent growth,” Mewes writes. “The company added 18 locations Q3, more than any other quarter this year. Growth has been predominately in the form of acquisitions, however the company has completed some re-developments. Management continues to re-iterate they are well positioned to take advantage of additional large acquisition opportunities, and a quick review of the balance sheet shows they have the capacity to do so … Depending on what transpires in the next three months, the company may be on target to have another record year, exceeding the 2014 record of adding 61 additional locations.”
