Minnesota, United States – 3M’s Finesse-it Robotic Paint Repair System has earned the “Award for Technique” at the 2022 SURCAR Shanghai Congress, an award by an international autobody finishing organization recognizing the OEM’s ability to use of artificial intelligence (AI) for autobody finishes.
“We have completely digitized this critical operation, which allows for continuous real-time analysis and improvements via the vast amount of data generated in the automated process,” said Carl Doeksen, director of 3M’s Abrasive Systems Division.
He goes on further, claiming that 3M’s “customers continue to demand increased automation as part of their quest for the ‘lights-out’ paint shop.”
This robotic platform features numerous robotic abrasive processes, using automation to increase productivity, consistency and cost savings, according to a 3M press release.
