Toronto, Ontario — October 29,2018 — BMW has expanded their recall notice to 1.6 million specified diesel models globally due to a potential fire risk.
About 54,700 vehicles are affected in the U.S and Canada, the Financial Post reported.
BMW said last week that the issue is derived from the car’s intake manifold, which could potentially melt and increase the risk of a fire, in “extreme rare cases.”
In August the company issued a recall to 480,000 vehicles in Asia and Europe after there were fires reported in South Korea. Further examination into the issue led to an expanded recall.
The affected models include:certain 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, X3, X4, X5 and X6 vehicles.
