Toronto, Ontario – May 2, 2019 – From a vehicle fire that spread to houses nearby, to a man operating an unlicensed repair shop in his own backyard. Collision Repair has prepared the top three unbelievable stories of the week.
Suspicious Fire
A fire that broke out in a four-door black Mercedes-Benz sedan parked in a driveway spread to two houses on Monday morning in Windsor Ont. The fire that started in the vehicle was quickly put out, but the flames had already spread over the side of one of the houses as well as the attic adjacent to the house. The total damage is estimated to be around $120,000. It is still unknown as to how the fire started in the first place, but police say it seems suspicious.
Unlicensed Repairs
A man in New London, Connecticut has been arrested for operating an unlicensed vehicle repair shop. The investigation was ongoing for about three months. Lisandro Rodriguez is accused of making auto repairs, painting vehicles and doing maintenance on cars in a garage behind his home without a license. The car repairs had apparently been going on for years, as neighbors had complained about the noise.
Carwash and Delivery
Ford is taking another spin on its services and is planning on offering on-demand car washes and in-vehicle package delivery as it expands the utility of its FordPass smartphone app. Customers with an Amazon Prime account and a built-in modem in their vehicle to access the FordPass app can punch in their location when placing an order with Amazon and someone from Amazon will unlock the vehicle and put the package inside, locking it again. Talk about convenience. The OEM announced that 2017 models or newer Fords and 2018 and newer Lincolns with the built-in modems will be able to access the services. With this project, Ford is partnering with Amazon on package delivery and Rub A Dub for the car wash service.
