Toronto, Ontario — April 4, 2019 — Did you hear about the announcement AkzoNobel made on April Fools Day?Or how about the hurdle of cows that disrupted traffic on the highway? Collision Repair has prepared the top three unbelievable stories of the week!
Holy Cow
Drivers on Highway 401 in Mississauga Ont. had quite the hurdle to drive around when a herd of cows escaped from a transport truck wandering on the road. The transport truck hit a guard rail in the westbound lanes around 11:30 p.m. This resulted in the trailer splitting on one side giving the cows a way out. The driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but some of the cows were badly injured and had to be put down. Police had to close the express lanes in both directions for about seven hours until the firefighters gathered all of the cows.

Paint Prank
On April Fools Day, AkzoNobel posted to LinkedIn about their new project. The company announced it had been working on a hi-tech coating which paints itself onto surfaces by harnessing energy from daylight. How it works is simple. Once a small amount has been applied to a surface, the pioneering coating uses a process similar to photosynthesis. When the light energy is converted into chemical energy the paint spreads itself over the surface. “We’ve taken a leaf out of nature’s book by using renewable energy to power our paint,” explains AkzoNobel scientist Opal Lofri, who is leading the project. “Our innovation embraces all areas of product development, including application, and the fact that we’re mimicking nature makes it extra special. You could say that our paint grows on you!” A user on LinkedIn commented on the post “How come ?!?!?! Is this paint a bio technique production? did you use a bacterial sys in? It’s really unbelievable !!!” AkzoNobel responded: “All excellent questions! Unbelievable it is – this type of technology is yet to be developed, we were having a bit of fun for April Fools’ Day. Have a great day!”
Act of Kindness
Krystal Preston, a single mother of three, was given an unbelievable gift from her 13-year-old son, William Preston. In his spare time William makes a little extra money to help with the family budget by doing yard and housework for the neighbours. After seeing that a woman on Facebook was selling an old ’99 Chevrolet Metro, he asked if he could trade for it or earn it with some yard work. After some negotiations, the car was his. William then went home to surprise his mom. “Mom, I got you a car!”. “I completely lost it. I started balling my eyes out. I am speechless my 13-year-old son bought me a car. He did some work for this woman and that was his payment that he worked out with her. And here I thought it was a joke… Nope I was handed the keys and paperwork to the car and I’m freaking out but so in shock like Oh my god, this is happening right now. So we got into the car it started right up and off we went. Krystal admitted the car is in need of some work but it’s perfect.
